Wisconsin Native Steve Progar (AKA BUCK SHOT) comes from humble beginnings.. From a working class family. Where Beer and Brandy Old Fashions were the drink of choice and Polkas was the music played. But when Elvis and the Beatles came along, something clicked in Buck’s Brain, that this was the music that he wanted to play..
Being a child of the 50’s and 60’s, Folk music as well as Folk Rock and Country music played an important role in Buck’s musical development as did Rock ‘n Roll. In the mid 60’s Buck started playing music in various bands around Wisconsin.. Sharing the stage with many National Acts with the likes of the Cryn’ Shames, Ted Nugent, Rory Gallagher, as well as Local and State Acts (Siegel-Schwall, Soup, The Skunks, The Mauds to name a few).
Buck was blessed to be mentored by some famous musicians early in his career such as the late Isaac Guillory.. The love of music was given a home in his soul, and it shows in his performances!
Fast Forward 50+ Years and Buck is still performing.. Just completed and released his 4th Album of original music.
Buck performs cover songs in addition to his original music, making for a very well entertaining show. His Range of Covers includes The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, Turtles, The Band, Gordon Lightfoot, Simon and Garfunkel, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Bobby Bare, John Denver, Marty Robbins, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Jimmy Buffet, Arlo Guthrie, Buddy Holly, Barry McGuire, Royal Guardsmen, The Box Tops, Neil Young to name a few.
